December 16th… 9 days until Christmas

I love Christmas.  It is such a wonderful time of the year.  I love how everyone is super nice to each other and people put their differences aside in the spirit of the holidays.

I am finally done my Christmas shopping and nearly have it all wrapped.  Boy is it a pain in the butt to wrap presents though.  And for what?  So that we can rip them all open again in a few weeks, what a waste of paper.  I would suggest a “green” Christmas but then where would the fun in that be.  I can just imagine it.

“Merry Christmas kids, let’s see what Santa brought you this year…”

“Mom, why aren’t any of the presents wrapped?”

“I guess Santa was going environmentally friendly this year, sorry there are no surprises under this tree, but at least we saved some paper.”

Yeah, like that would fly.  Than again, it isn’t very environmentally friendly to have a Christmas tree either.  We cut one down so it can stand in our living rooms for three weeks and then it gets tossed.  As fun as Christmas is, it certainly seems to be a bit of a death sentence for our planet, doesn’t it?  Maybe if we recycled our trees after Christmas, they could make the wrapping paper for next year and that way we would be a little less destructive to our planet.  It’s a thought I guess?
